Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born on March 4, 1954. O'Hara has been the recipient of several distinctions, including a Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018 she was recognized as an Officer of Canada. In 2020, she was awarded the Governor General's Performing Arts Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Awards. O'Hara first became known as an actress while she was part of The Second City improv comedy troupe in Toronto in 1974. Together with John Candy, O'Hara was part of the main cast for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). In the following year, O'Hara and Candy began working in the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984) and she earned critical acclaim for both her work as a comedic actress and as a writer, securing an award called the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for an Variety Series in 1981. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the new Second City artistic advisory board headed by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
