Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until now. As of February 2020, she has made 53 deals with the show, the largest being a $350,000 investment for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling before discovering that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her area and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
